MRV (2026)
Based in the USA, MRV provides vertically profiling vehicles for ocean observation applications, from ocean research to maritime domain awareness. The acquisition expanded General Oceans’ capability in long-duration autonomous data collection and strengthened the Group’s ocean data and observation capabilities. MRV Systems has around 22 employees and has offices in Chicago (HQ) and Seattle, increasing General Oceans’ US footprint.
RS Aqua (2024)
RS Aqua joined General Oceans in 2024. The UK-based ocean science technology company brought strong customer relationships, market knowledge and technical expertise in environmental monitoring, ocean science and marine operations.
For RS Aqua, joining General Oceans created access to wider group resources, shared expertise and international collaboration while allowing the company to preserve its customer focus and specialist identity.
Klein Marine Systems (2023)
General Oceans acquired Klein Marine Systems in 2023. Klein added more than 50 years of side scan sonar experience to the Group, along with strong brand recognition in seabed mapping, mine countermeasures, underwater security and survey applications.
As part of General Oceans, Klein has gained access to group support, operational expertise and a wider platform for long-term development. Klein has also moved locations from a unit that was no longer fit for purpose to a more efficient office and manufacturing base in Newburyport, MA.
Tritech (2022)
General Oceans acquired Tritech International in 2022. Tritech brought decades of experience in multibeam imaging sonar for ROVs and AUVs. Based in the UK, with operations in Ulverston and Aberdeen, the company strengthened the Group’s capability in underwater imaging, inspection and subsea navigation.
Since joining General Oceans, Tritech has benefited from closer alignment with sister companies working in related markets and with similar customers.
Reach Robotics (2022)
Reach Robotics joined General Oceans in January 2022. Based in Sydney, Reach Robotics develops advanced electric manipulator systems for ROVs. The company added strong underwater intervention capability to the Group and expanded General Oceans’ presence in Australia.
As part of General Oceans, Reach Robotics has gained access to wider group support, strategic guidance and shared expertise while continuing to serve its specialist markets.
Strategic Robotic Systems Inc (2021)
Strategic Robotics Systems became part of General Oceans in 2021, helping form the foundation of the Group alongside Nortek.
SRS brought specialist underwater vehicle expertise and deep experience in defense and security applications. Its FUSION system added important capability in underwater robotics, explosive ordnance disposal and amphibious missions, supporting General Oceans’ broader strength in advanced underwater technology.
Martin's Story
Martin Stemp, owner of RS Aqua, sold his company to General Oceans in 2024 after initiating the acquisition directly with General Oceans. About the acquisition, Martin said:
“I wanted to reframe RS Aqua’s future story for the benefit of the wider team, our customers and the business. General Oceans offered, and has delivered, exactly what I was looking for.”
